Cardamon and Lime: Recipes from the Arabian Gulf by Sarah al-Hamad

For the first time in Kuwait, Kuwaiti writer Sarah al-Hamad’s signed recipe book from the Arabian Gulf, Cardamon and Lime: Recipes from the Arabian Gulf, is available at the museum shop at Dar al-Athar al-Islamiyyah’s al-Maidan Cultural Centre in Maidan Hawalli.

This book is really wonderful to have as we seriously have a lack of cook books on the Arabian Gulf in English! Now I have no excuse for not knowing how to make proper rice (one of the many things I gave up on many years ago) or stuffed dumplings in stew (قبوط) or rice with lentil (اموش)! And the images of the street markets in Kuwait by the writer makes it such a wholesome book and a great gift idea.

al-Maidan Cultural Centre – Abdullah al-Salem School,

  1. I actually got a copy of this last year for my homesick sister who is in the States.. it’s EXCELLENT! & the photography is phenomenal too 😉
Props to Sarah Al Hamad for such a beautifully produced book.

    • Really where did you get it from?
It’s pretty sad that you can find it on amazon for awhile now and in Kuwait it JUST became available.

But it is a beautiful book.
