I meant to post about Food Revolution almost two months ago, when I volunteered as a photographer at the group's first event in Kuwait. Clearly, I didn't get around to posting anything about the event! I volunteered at another workshop yesterday and this time I'm not putting off writing about it, mainly because I firmly believe in this group's cause in wanting to encourage healthy living.
Check out this wonderful and well-made mini film on Prime Burger, a diner in New York City that is over 70 years old. Some of the people working there are as old as the establishment and have been working for 50 plus years. What’s so sad is that the building which the restaurant is located in was sold back in May and now they are forced to close and relocate.
My friend Fatmah from F.Scribbles along with a group of her friends are independently collecting donations to help out as many people in need as possible. The donations will be shared, regardless of race, citizenship and religion.
Last year they managed to give out 100 bags of food. You can help out by giving food or getting discounts, boxes, or even helping them deliver.
I posted this lime pickle several times on my Instagram and many asked me for a recipe. I am so sorry I took this long.
You can get it from here. However, there are few omissions. I don’t add chili because my sister can’t stand the heat and hing (asafetida) because I just don’t know where to find it. Probably at the local herbs and spice store (hawajj)? I never bothered to check and these stores usually intimidate me.
